Surprisingly, this does not come across as 126.6 proof on the palate. Very approachable and totally fine for sipping neat, though a splash of water does open it up. Ardlair is the name for unpeated Ardmore. Plum pudding, sultana, and chocolate covered raisins lead with an underbelly of brittle caramel, vanilla cream, and freshly ground clove. On the palate, caramel and roasted nuts with chocolate covered raisin, and stewed plum surge with intensity. The finish is long and warming with spicy oak flavors and dark stewed fruits fading slowly together. With a splash of water, a hammy note appears and fruit intensifies.
