      Detailed Description

Superb deep red-ruby color. Pungently mineral aromas of raspberry, bitter cherry and flowers. At once sweet and powerful, with brilliant definition and class. Abundant fine tannin does not preclude an emerging sense of creaminess, nor block this wine’s long, darkly-fruited, spicy finish.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Enthusiast: Domaine de l'Arlot owns just over one acre of this grand cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée. This 2005 shows intense, complex fruits and tannins, both finely intertwined. There is power, but the strawberry flavors are just as important, flattering the palate.
        • Allen Meadows: (from a .25 ha parcel that was planted in 1973 – an average vintage produces 3 barrels). Despite the wonderful complexity and exotic character of the Suchots, this RSV goes it one better as this is class in a glass with a wonderfully expressive and broad nose of violets and spices, particularly cinnamon and clove that can also be found on the refined, rich and sweet flavors that are distinctly floral, all wrapped in a powerful and beautifully focused finish that is strikingly long. This is one of those ‘wow’ wines.

        Producer Information

Domaine de L'Arlot is one of the seminal properties in Nuits St. Georges. The domaine was co-owned by Jean-Pierre de Smet, who spent eight years alongside Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac before taking over L’Arlot in 1986. Today, the domaine consists of 14 hectares planted to mostly Pinot Noir, with 5% devoted to Chardonnay for their ultra-rare white wines. The oldest vines are 70+ years old, with the average age close to 50. While the estate’s core is in the monopoles of Clos des Forêts Saint Georges and Clos de l’Arlot, the domaine also consists of two parcels in the village of Vosne-Romanée that were added in 1991. In 2015 the very talented Geraldine Godot took over the domaine. With Geraldine’s inspired leadership, Domaine de l’Arlot is committed to maintaining their classic, elegant style of terroir driven wines in hopes of providing the sort of divine pleasure only classic Burgundy delivers.
