      Detailed Description

          Producer Information

Boroli is a family-run wine estate based in the Barolo heartland town of Castiglione Falletto, in the Piedmont wine region of northwestern Italy. It previously made wines from the area's key DOC/DOP and DOCG appellations, including Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and Moscato d'Asti, but is now concentrates predominantly on Barolo wines made from the Nebbiolo grape. The estate was founded in the 1990s by Italian publishing moguls and Piedmont natives Silvano and Elena Boroli. The estate is now run by their son, Achille. The estate had consisted of two properties, one near the town of Alba and the other in Castiglione Falletto, each with its own winery. However, in 2017, the Cascina Bompè farmhouse and restaurant and and two hectares (five acres) of vines were sold to Poderi Colla. Another 11 hectares (27 acres) including Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Arneis and Moscato had already been sold to the Giacomo Borgogno winery. The sales were made to enable Achille Boroli to focus on the production of Barolo at the La Brunella estate. La Brunella sits above the famed Villero cru vineyard, in which Baroli has a small holding covering two plots just below the Brunella building. In total, the estate boasts around 11 hectares (27 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, including much of the Brunella vineyard around the winery. The site also has a modern winery that was designed by famed architect and relative Guido Boroli. Boroli also has vineyard holdings in Borgata Cerequio, in the neighboring Barolo subregion of Barolo. Boroli's range of Barolo wines includes a standard cuvée as well as cru wines from Villero (sometimes released as a Riserva) and Cerequio, as well as a Barolo Chinato.
