                    Producer Information

Antonin Rodet is a wine producer and négociant based in the village of Mercurey in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise. Founded in 1875 by Antoine Rodet, today the estate makes a broad portfolio of wines from its 80 hectares (198 acres) of vineyards at Château de Rully and Château de Mercey, as well as working alongside wine growers from across Beaujolais, the Rhône Valley and Chablis, to name but a few. In 1887, Antoine Rodet acquired his first plots of vines and the family business developed substantially under the leadership of his son, Antonin. Roughly a century later, the estate took over the management of the vineyards at Château de Rully (in 1986) and Château de Mercey (in 1989). The 12th-Century Château de Rully is situated in the village of Rully and sits within 32 hectares (79 acres) of vineyards (a third of which are classified as premier cru). The soils are rich in limestone and the southeasterly aspect of the slopes here are ideally oriented for optimal grape ripening. The majority of the wines produced from these vineyards are based on Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir making up the remainder. Château de Mercey comprises 48 hectares (119 acres) of vineyards spanning the Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise sub-regions of Burgundy. The château dates back to the 1500s and its vineyards and winery are managed in collaboration with Antonin Rodet's winemaker. The vineyards are planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a small quantity of Aligoté, with the château's most-prized vines located in the Premier Cru climats of Les Clos Roussots in Marange and Sazenay in Mercurey. All grapes grown and sourced by the estate are cultivated using sustainable viticultural practices and grape yields are kept low. The Antonin Rodet winery is situated in Mercurey and is fitted with modern vinification equipment including concrete, thermo-regulated and stainless steel vats. In 2009, Antonin Rodet was acquired by fellow Burgundian operation Boisset for an undisclosed sum.
