      Detailed Description

Very pale color. Orange and lemon pith, wet stone and a whiff of marzipan on the slightly reduced nose. Wonderfully creamy and fine-grained in the mouth, saturating the entire palate with orange, dusty stone and ginger flavors. Superb citric cut keeps it fresh and extends the very long finish.

      Reviews:

      • Vinous: The 2009 Meursault Perrières is pure seduction. Slate, ash and smoke are just some of the nuances that wrap around the palate in this captivating, strikingly beautiful wine. The wine shows multiple players of flavor all the way through to the kaleidoscopic finish. Coche says the berries in Perrières were particularly small. This is insanely beautiful.
      • Wine Advocate: The 2009 Perrieres from Jean-Francois Coche does not quite possess the thrilling bouquet as the succeeding vintage, but that does not detract from the ethereal slate and honeysuckle scents that display exquisite delineation. The palate is extremely well-balanced, more delicate than the 2010, and Zen-like toward the finish. There is so much potential here, I would cellar bottles for another five or six years. Tasted March 2013.

      Producer Information

Coche-Dury is a highly regarded producer based in Meursault, Burgundy. While they make some red wines from Pinot Noir, the house is famous for its highly collectible white wines made from Chardonnay. In fact, Coche-Dury's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru wine is consistently ranked among the top 100 most expensive wines available on Wine-Searcher. The Domaine was founded in 1973, following the marriage of Jean-François Coche and Odile Dury, although the Coche family has been making wine in Meursault for several generations. Now, as well as holdings in Meursault, the family have vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Volnay and in the Corton Grand Cru vineyard. In total, the Coche-Dury holdings represent just over nine hectares (22 acres), about half of which are in Meursault itself. Coche-Dury's only Grand Cru wine is the Corton-Charlemagne, but a handful of the domaine's other wines are of particular importance. Premier Cru wines from Meursault's Les Charmes and Les Perrières vineyards are among the most expensive wines from the Côte de Beaune, and the Coche-Dury Meursault is among the most sought-after. The domaine practices traditional methods of vinification. The white wines spend up to 22 months in barrel, with only a small amount of new oak typically used (except for in the very top wines). Since 2010, Jean-François has handed over the day-to-day running of the estate to his son and daughter-in-law, Raphaël and Charline.
