Detailed Description

The whiskey has not been cold-filtered, so you still get the full aroma of Amrut. It was distilled in 2014. It was bottled in 2021. The maturation period was therefore only 6 years. Nevertheless, the whiskey scores with us with an amazing number of aromas. As it is a single cask, the number of bottles is limited accordingly. There are only 160 bottles of this whiskey.

2014 Amrut Special Limited Edition Indian Single Malt Whisky Triple Distilled Tasting Notes

Nose: On the first nose, a very subtle smoke and a no-less delicate peat soar over floral (reseda, peony, carnation), fruity (apricot, orange), honeyed (heather), chocolate and caramelized lands. Exceptional! Allowed to breathe, fragrances of Russian leather, tiger balm and ash bring lots of light to the aroma palette.

Palate: At once lively and delicate. On the attack, a liquorice and salty peat coats the outside of the palate. In its wake it brings malted barley grain, roasted apple and curry. The velvety mid-palate eloquently evokes emery cloth. The end of the palate is characterized by notes of cocoa bean.

Finish: Long, remarkably well-balanced. Start of the finish also reveals various red fruits (raspberry, strawberry) and black fruits (bramble, blackcurrant).

Distillery Information

Amrut Distillery was founded in 1948 as Amrut Laboratories. Established by Shri JN Radhakrishna, the company started mixing and bottling various alcoholic beverages . It wasn't until the 1980s that the company started producing malt whisky. Recommendations for what constitutes a whiskey in India are decidedly lax, in fact 90% of the whiskey consumed in India is made from molasses. Amrut strove to deliver a better product that would meet global requirements and enlisted the help of whiskey experts from Scotland to perfect the process. The barley is specially grown in the foothills of the Himalayas and the whiskey is matured at 3,000 feet in Bangalore. Due to tropical conditions, the whiskey matures very quickly. The values โ€‹โ€‹of the Amrut distillery are passed on from generation to generation, providing excellent quality whiskey is at the heart of Amrut's objectives. The result is present since internationally, Amrut fusion is crowned 3rd best whiskey in the Bible of critic Jim Murray in 2010
