Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose has intense with hints of cherry jam, notes of spicy cinnamon, pepper and tobacco. The palate is elegant and savory with notes of dark red berry fruit and spices. Long and persistent finish.
Reviews:
- Decanter: Big, deep and pure, with well-integrated oak and firm acidity, supporting super-honest black cherry, damson and date, complemented by mushroom and violet.
- James Suckling: There’s a wealth of dark cherries and cassis on the nose of this Chianti Classico, and the nose is swathed in a vast array of Chinese and Indian spices. The palate possesses real power — bold but elegant, its the muscular tannins that drive home tons of blackberries and dark plums through to a chewy finish. The acidity remains on point throughout and leaves you coming back for more. Very well done. Drink from 2023.
Producer Information
Castello d'Albola is an Tuscan estate in the heart of the iconic Chianti Classico wine region. Its vineyards are dominated by Chianti's infamous grape variety, Sangiovese, complemented by smaller vineyard plots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo, as well as the white grape varieties of Malvasia and Trebbiano that are cultivated specifically for the estate's Vin Santo del Chianti Classico wine. The estate can trace its history back to the early part of the 11th Century. By the 1500s Castello d'Albola had gained a revered status among the noble families of Florence, and was passed between several of these families, who all contributed towards the establishment of viticulture on the estate. In 1940, Prince Giovanni Ginori Conti became the proprietor of Castello d'Albola, and in 1979 the estate was acquired by the Zonin family of Veneto.
