2017 | Raymond Vineyards | Reserve Selection Red

This 2017 Red Wine is dark purple-black in color with bright red fruit aromas and a touch of spice that springs from the glass. Raspberry, dark cherry and blueberry flavors are met with freshly cracked pepper and anise in this structured wine with a velvety and weighted mouthfeel. This wine has good acidity, firm but, juicy tannins and a lingering finish.

• Wine Advocate: The 2017 Red Blend Reserve is made up of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petit Verdot, 9% Zinfandel, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 5% Petite Sirah and 4% Malbec. It was aged in 24% new French oak and bottled unfiltered. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rocks up with flamboyant cedar chest, baking spices and licorice scents over a cassis and plum preserves core with a waft of dried flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with baked black berries with a finely grained frame, finishing with an invigorating lift.

It offers a beautiful complexity and nuance as well as classy notes of blackcurrants, spice box, dried flowers, and leafy herbs. Medium-bodied, with solid Cabernet character, it's balanced, charming, and delicious.

Raymond Vineyards is one of the Napa Valley's most visually intriguing estates, with an award-winning winery featuring a range of themed tasting areas. Located in Rutherford of Napa Valley, the winery produces a range of wines, predominately made with Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Rutherford, St Helena, and southern Napa. The estate was founded in 1970 by Roy Raymond Sr. After the first vintage in 1974 the wines quickly found acclaim, and the estate began to grow. Raymond's winery has become a popular tourism destination, with multiple tasting rooms and experiences including a sensory wine corridor, a blending room where visitors can make their own wine, and the private Red Room, where only certain wines are poured. Raymond has a large catalog of wines, focusing mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. This includes a range of varietal wines from the estate vineyard in Rutherford, a range of Cabernet Sauvignon wines from many different Napa Valley subregions, and a range of more affordable wines under the Family Classic label. Recently, Raymond Vineyards collaborated with singer-songwriter John Legend to create the LVE Collection, a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon with the artist's stamp of approval. In 2009, the Raymond family sold the estate to The Boisset Collection, which owns a number of wineries around the world, including Buena Vista in Sonoma and Jean-Claude Boisset in Burgundy.
