• Wine Advocate: The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets has turned out brilliantly, revealing an incipiently complex bouquet featuring scents of white flowers, Anjou pear, fresh peach, fresh pastry and flinty reduction. Medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny, it's a lively, concentrated wine with lovely mid-palate amplitude and a lively, saline finish. Inherently more open and immediate than the superb 2017 rendition, it will nevertheless merit and reward some bottle age.

• James Suckling: Pale colour. If anything, this is more discreet than the Champgain, with a little touch of reduction which works really well here, to tame the creamy white flesh, showing a very fine balance. The 2018 Caillerets is a wine of concentration, precision and discretion.

Producer Information

Lamy-Caillat is a Burgundy wine producer located in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. It produces a small collection of Chardonnay wines from four climats, a majority of which are Premier Cru. Lamy-Caillat was established in 2011 by Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy who both grew up in Burgundy. They also manage Domaine René Lamy-Pillot, Forence's family estate. Les Champs Gian, Les Caillerets and La Romanée are the premier cru climat with a village wine from the Pot Bois climat (of which many consider to be of premier cru quality). The entire portfolio is designed to be age-worthy with long elevage periods. The wines are bottled directly from barrel with no filtration. Production totals approximately 7150 bottles each year.
