        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: From Leimen, Seeger's 2018 Oberklamm Blauer Spätburgunder GG is very intense and spicy on the deep and super ripe yet still refined and elegant nose with its spicy toast aromas. Full-bodied, intense and with firm tannins, this is a tight, fresh and intense, quite sweet and powerful Pinot that will benefit from a long bottle aging. This 2018 represents the heat of the vintage perfectly. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2020.
        • Falstaff: Complex bouquet that shows cherries fresh and confit, but also pays attention to the ground spice, reminiscent of the resin of fir forests. The start may be juicy, which is quickly followed by minerally forced tannins and a succinct acidity.

        Producer Information

Although his wines have already won all the prestigious awards, Thomas Seegerbut known only to connoisseurs. Its annual production of 40,000 bottles remains in the greater Heidelberg area – i.e. in the immediate vicinity. The 11.5 ha total area of the farm is divided into the smallest plots around Leimen and Heidelberg. They are all laboriously farmed by hand without an organic seal, but close to nature with a sustainable attitude and entirely without herbicides or insecticides. Here, in the northernmost part of Baden, the Pinot varieties thrive particularly well, above all the Pinot Noir, Thomas's declared favourite. He was one of the first in Germany to plant high-quality Burgundy clones and he masters aging in barriques like no other. The white wines are dry, well structured, juicy and lively. They don't live off alcohol or solid wood, it's their zesty elegance that makes them so attractive. The red wines show a complex structure and an almost perfect wooden barrel aging - you can clearly see the signature of Thomas Seeger, who once said: "Wine has to taste good. Quite simply.” It suits us…!
