      Producer Information

Château de Fuissé is a leading producer of Chardonnay wines in the Pouilly-Fuissé zone of the Mâconnais region. The estate has been owned since 1862 by five generations of the Vincent family. In total the estate owns over 40 hectares (100 acres) of vineyards across five appellations, 37 of which are planted to Chardonnay. Of this, 25ha lie in Pouilly-Fuissé itself. There are 8ha in Saint-Véran, 3ha classified as Mâcon-Villages, a single hectare of Mâcon-Fuissé and half a hectare of Bourgogne Blanc. A single wine is made from each location. In addition Chateau de Fuissé owns 3ha of Gamay in the Juliénas AOP. This produces the single red wine in the portfolio of estate-grown wines. At the time of writing, four cuvees of Pouilly-Fuissé are made. Tête de Cuvée is, despite its name, the standard bottling. Fruit is sourced from around 40 different vineyard parcels. 60 percent of the wine is aged in oak barrels with the remainder in stainless steel. Les Combettes is a mineral single-vineyard wine from an east-southeast facing limestone slope. It is aged in 3 to 5 year old barrels. Les Brûles ("the burnt slopes") is sourced from the south facing vineyard which dominates the estate. The soil is clay with limestone pebbles and produces a richer wine than Les Combettes while retaining minerality. Accordingly it is aged in new oak. At the pinnacle is the Le Clos cuvée. This is a monopole (wholly owned) vineyard which surrounds the château. It features vines over 50 years of age. Three different soil types within the small parcel add complexity. The wine matures in barrels, 80 percent of which are new. Further wines are made under the "Vincent" banner. They use fruit sourced from partner growers. The range features the same white wine appellations as for the estate wines. A Crémant de Bourgogne and a Morgon Les Charmes complete the line up.
