Producer Information
Franz Türk represents the 6th generation of wine producers and the winery itself looks at 300 years of history, sucessfully combining traditional winemaking and modern technologies in vineyard and cellar. The Türk family sees its greatest privilege is the site location of their vineyards. The total of 17 hectares are located in the middle of one of the oldest cultural landscapes in Austria. As early as the Neolithic period, around 32,000 years ago, the village of Stratzing was highly regarded and folks settled close to the nearby Danube. The viticulture was first mentioned here in the 7th century, which only confirms the ideal climatic conditions. Many of the winery’s own crus, such as Kremser Wachtberg, Thurnerberg and Frechau, meet the strict quality criteria of the Erste Lage sites, as classified by the Association of Austrian Traditional Wineries.
