Originally opened in 1833 in Petersburg, Kentucky, Boone County Distilling Company was once the largest distillery in the state. It eventually closed its doors in 1918, to be reopened nearly a century later in 2015 in Independence, Kentucky. The first releases were mostly sourced from MGP, but Boone County Kentucky Pot Still Bourbon Whiskey marks a very special occasion. It's the debut of their very own spirit. Distilled from a mash bill of 74% corn, 21% rye, and 5% malted barley on a 500-gallon copper pot still, this whiskey was patiently matured for more 5 1/2 years before being bottled at 94.8 proof. Full-bodied and complex, it's a well-aged and flavor-packed sour mash bourbon.
Boone County Kentucky Pot Still Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose opens with brown sugar, caramel, oak, cinnamon, and hints of toasted chestnuts.
Palate: The palate is sweet with charred oak, vanilla, citrus, dark sugar, and toasted almonds.
Finish: The finish is long and buttery with oak, tobacco, and leather.
