Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend Whisky | 500ML

Introduced to the Great King Street range by Compass Box in 2014, the Glasgow Blend is a superbly full-bodied blended Scotch whisky. It's made with 33% Lowland grain whisky and 67% malt whisky from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, aged in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels and first-fill Sherry casks, with a small portion being finished in new French oak. Plentiful amounts of Sherried fruit touches surrounding a core of peaty notes - yummers. Fun note: The label features a picture of The Wellington Statue outside of Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art, complete with traffic cone hat, said to be a symbol of the city's sense of humour.

Nose: The most pronounced aroma is peat smoke, much like soot you'd find in a chimney. Hidden underneath all of that are sweet, malty notes.

Palate: As you taste, there's a sweet middle that hits your tongue with a mixed fruit salad of mandarin, apples, and cherry. As you exhale, you feel as if you've just exhaled a puff of smoke.

Finish: Overall, the peat and fruit seem to be arm-wrestling and the outcome keeps changing as to which one is going over the top.

Compass Box is a producer, bottler and marketer of a range of blended Scotch whiskies. The company is headquartered in Chiswick. Compass Box Whisky was founded in 2000 by American entrepreneur John Glaser, a former marketing director at Johnnie Walker.
