Del Bac Dorado Mesquite Smoked Single Malt Whiskey

Whiskey Del Bac Dorado is the flagship whiskey of family-run Hamilton Distillers in Tucson, Arizona. It is made from malted barley which is smoked using native mesquite wood, rather than peat. It's distilled twice in a 500-gallon copper pot-still and aged in American white oak barrels.

Nose: Like Del Bac's unaged whiskey, smoke is still dominant, though oak and dried chile, trailing spice in their wake, add to the complexity of the nose.

Palate: Emerging on the palate is a nice smoky sweetness reminiscent of campfire-toasted s'mores to which a perverse adult has added a smear of chipotle en adobo. There's just enough smoke here to be distinctive without the iodine tang of an Islay or the vegetal funk of a single-varietal mezcal.

Finish: Smooth finish.

Hamilton Distillers, Inc. is a private family-owned and operated distillery company, founded by Stephen Paul in 2006, headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. The company produces and markets three Single Malt Whiskey Del Bac labels. Its current distillery facility, called Mash & Chisel, is located in west Tucson, Arizona. Hamilton is the first craft distillery established in Southern Arizona since prohibition and the largest Whiskey producer in the Tucson metro region.
