Distiller's Art Craigellachie 21 Year Old | 750ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Strong fruity sherry notes with prunes, raisins and mandarins mix with oily aromas of lavender, red bell pepper and beeswax.
Palate: The bitter notes of the cigar box and charcoal dominate in the taste, slightly tart and dry before raisins and prunes emerge.
Finish: Quite delicate and smooth texture on the long finish.
Distillery Information
Owned by Dewar’s, Craigellachie is based in Craigellachie, in the Scottish region of Speyside. It’s history goes back to 1891, when it was first opened by Peter Mackie and Alexander Edward. Both had some history in the Whisky industry. Mackie owned the White Horse blend and Edward had built the Aultmore Distillery in Banffshire. The malt produced here was primarily used in White Horse’s Old Smuggler and Old Gaelic blends. Eventually, the distiller came to be owned by Dewar’s, who in 2014 released a range of Craigellachie malts which has won a plethora of awards since launching.
