Part of Glenglassaugh's return, which despite changes of ownership looks set to be a triumphant one if Evolution is anything to go by. Matured in ex-George Dickel first-fill Tennessee whiskey barrels, Evolution is a limited release showcasing Glenglassaugh’s interaction with ex-Tennessee whiskey casks. Released November 2012 originally Evolution was bottled at 57.2% but in 2014 was reduced to the current 50% alc./vol

Glenglassaugh Evolution Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla, balsawood, raw almond, marzipan and freshly cut grass. Water brings nutty cedarwood with red apple fruit.

Palate: Slight marzipan sweetness, dry toasty buttery oak with cinnamon and cracked black pepper spice. Water amplifies almond, macaroon and dry biscuity notes.

Finish: Leather, almond, walnut and cinnamon spice.

Distillery Information

The Glenglassaugh distillery is a malt scotch whisky distillery which restarted production in November 2008 after being acquired by an independent investment group. Following a complete refurbishment by the new owners the distillery was re-opened on 24 November 2008 by the First Minister for Scotland Alex Salmond.
