Just three years later, the plant was taken over by William Lawson & Co. and made Macduff the main component of the Wiliam Lawson's blend, currently (2021) the fifth best-selling Scotch whiskey (3.4 million cases per year). Since 1993, the distillery has been owned by John Dewar & Sons, a company that is part of the Bacardi Ltd concern. The Macduff presented here, distilled on November 27, 2006, spent over 15 years in bourbon cask No. 102391, and was bottled in August 2022 at 46% abv by The Ultimate Whiskey Company. The Ultimate was founded in 1994 by Han and Maurice van Wees. Its headquarters is Amersfoort in the Netherlands, and its products are mainly available on the European market.
