Ri 1 Rye whiskey is a premium whiskey produced by Beam Suntory. It is a blend of several different age statements of a minimum of 4.5 years. It is a uniquely smooth and sophisticated whiskey. The deliberate blending of several different ages creates a higher proof; spicy, yet lighter rye taste; and long, luxurious finish.

Nose: Dried fruit and cinnamon.

Palate: Light, spicy flavor and gentle, peppery notes of rye.

Finish: Long, luxurious finish.

Distillery Information

Founder of Suntory, Shinjiro Torii, decided to begin whisky-making with a passionate desire to "create a perfect whisky that reflects the nature of Japan and the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship." His decision led him to embark on the difficult business of authentic domestic whisky-making that no one had ever attempted at the time. The history of Suntory whisky and the history of Japanese whisky began by the fearless challenge undertaken Torii, who embarked on whisky-making after prevailing against the opposition he faced.
