The Wrecking Coast Rye Whiskey 8 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish | 700ML

The talented team at The Wrecking Coast is back with an extremely exciting offering here – they're dipping their toes into the world of whisky! After much searching (and tasting), the team finally settled on a rye whisky with a modern character as its starting point. Matured for eight years and finished in sherry casks, this is a stunning expression, with huge helpings of fruit and spice.

Nose: Toasted spices and silky honey waft amongst buttered toast, burnt caramel, and cooking herbs, followed by tangy berries and gentle pepper.

Palate: Sweet summer fruits and darker juicy currants, with herbaceous zest in tow. Earthy spice and cacao build, with liquorice, drying oak, and tangy dried raspberries.

Finish: Dark, charred sugar, fragrant anise, more forest fruits, and just a hint of fresh mint.

Distillery Information

Perhaps most famous for its clotted cream gin, it probably doesn’t come as a great surprise that The Wrecking Coast distillery is based in Cornwall. In 2014, wanting to celebrate an icon of Cornwall, the cream itself, the four chaps behind the idea realised they would have to create a gin to work with the cream, rather than add the cream to an already existing gin. So, it was built from the ground up, and it looks like it had some pretty solid foundations, as they now have two other gin expressions!
