Detailed Description
Detailed Description
A rare find from the historic 1984 vintage. Beautifully described by Jason Jardine, Director of Winemaking as follows, "We do not get to open a Hanzell first generation Cabernet Sauvignon often, but when we do, I’m immediately exported out of California to somewhere in the old world. Somewhere between the rustic authenticity, structure and charm of the wines from Italy and the power, grace and finesse that you find in mature Bordeaux. 1984 was an early and relatively ripe vintage for those days and this wine rides the parallel of classic savory and California dark fruits well. Concentrated black fruit, cassis, ripe fig and a touch of cigar wrapper mingling with bay leaf and thyme. There is ample acidity carrying a long finish and broad structural tannins characteristic of the Hanzell estate volcanic soils. This is classic Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy!"
