      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2013 Barolo Riserva Cannubi 1752 opens a wider window onto one of the most applauded and balanced vintages in recent years. The 2013 growing season was long and had cool nights going into harvest. These conditions helped to develop the aromatic intensity and precision of the bouquet and the linear tendencies of the mouthfeel. Made with a special selection of fruit from the Cannubi vineyard, this Riserva shows dark cherry, cassis, iron ore, licorice and camphor ash. The wine has aged enough to give you an idea of where it's going, and the best bet is to let it continue its journey. I suggest a medium to long drinking window for this top-shelf bottle from Damilano.
      • James Suckling: The purity of this wine is pretty phenomenal with blackberries, strawberries, fresh flowers and licorice. Hints of tar. It’s full-bodied, yet composed and compact with ultra fine tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Very structured. Try after 2024.

      Producer Information

Damilano Azienda Agricola is an Italian wine producer, located in the La Morra district of Barolo. There is a range of wines within the portfolio, but Damilano is particularly known for its Nebbiolo-based red wines. The flagship is the Cannubi 1752 Riserva, from an old vine plot in the famous Cannubi vineyard. It is fermented for 20 days and left on the skins for a further month, before five years of maturation in large oak vats and a further two years in bottle. The estate comprises 53 hectares (131 acres) of vineyards, including plots in four of the Barolo Cru vineyards which make four single-vineyard wines: Cannubi, Brunate, Cerequio and Liste. In addition, Damilano produces Lecinquevigne, a Barolo from vineyards in five different towns around the region. Beyond Barolo, the range also includes Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Asti, Langhe Arneis, Rosato, Moscato d'Asti, Barolo Chinato and Grappa di Nebbiolo di Barolo. The Damilano family business dates back to 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno, the great grandfather of the current owners, first began to produce estate wines. The vineyards were then developed further by his son-in-law, Giacomo Damilano. Production today totals around 320,000 bottles per year.
