      Detailed Description

Bright ruby. Piercing aromas of sour red cherry, black currant, violet and lavender. A wine of remarkable balance and finesse, but also powerful and concentrated.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo offers a rich and savory interpretation. The wine reveals earthy notes of freshly tilled earth and button mushroom and it also shows autumnal layers of crushed leaf and black currant. Together, these various elements come together in smooth harmony. The fruit element at the back is a good guarantee of the wine's future aging potential. The finish offers solid tannins and earthy grittiness. Titolo does malolactic fermentation in oak and is aged in French barrique for 12 months.
        • Wine Spectator: Initially smoky and reduced on the nose, but air allows the sandalwood- and herb-laced flavors of raspberry preserves and green olive to come through. Fleshy in texture, but set over sleek tannins that firm the chewy finish.

        Producer Information

Perched above the famous Villa Rotondo, the Fucci property towers over the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture area in Basilicata. At 650 meters of altitude the soil is pure black volcanic lava, also locally known as 'pozzolana'. "Titolo" is the name of this Lava channel or "costone", which came down from the now extinct Vulture volcano. Nobody owns vineyards located higher than the Fucci's, no winery harvests later than the Fucci's, making these Aglianico grapes the last grapes harvested in all of Europe for dry red wine making!
