Red Wine: 2014 | Comte de Vogue | Chambolle Musigny 1er cru

The bottling of young vine Musigny is going to be superb in 2014, as the wine shows the vintage’s beautiful combination of sappy pure fruit and great transparency. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a perfumed constellation of red and black cherries, plums, bitter chocolate, a touch of marjoram, a fine base of soil, a dollop of vanillin oak and a smoky topnote.

      Detailed Description

The bottling of young vine Musigny is going to be superb in 2014, as the wine shows the vintage’s beautiful combination of sappy pure fruit and great transparency. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a perfumed constellation of red and black cherries, plums, bitter chocolate, a touch of marjoram, a fine base of soil, a dollop of vanillin oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy from start to finish, with lovely mid-palate concentration, fine-grained tannins and a long, potentially very velvety finish. Lovely juice.

        Reviews:

        • Burghound: The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru has a very classic bouquet, leaning more towards black fruit here, touches of slate and flint in the background, blackberry and raspberry preserve gaining intensity in the glass. There is less of the undergrowth scents that I noticed out of barrel. The palate is smooth and silky, perhaps a little more sorbet-like in character à la 2015, gently building to quite a sweet, candied orange peel and Asian spice tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is showing great promise.
        • Vinous: Good bright red. Lovely floral high tones to the aromas of red cherry, raspberry and crushed stone. Precise and light on its feet, offering excellent precision to its intense flavors of raspberry jelly, minerals and flowers. The juicy finish features suave tannins and lovely subtle persistence.
