Cask sample. Very winning and rich on the nose with wonderful richness on the palate. Bright and rich not at all heavy.

• Wine Advocate: Tasted blind, Lafon's 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru displays incredible potential, unfurling in the glass with a classy bouquet of buttered Meyer lemons, toasted nuts, dried white flowers and mandarin oil. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, richly textural but tangy, with a deep, tight-knit core, excellent concentration and a long, pure finish. An hour later, this Montrachet was still filling out, acquiring more dimension along with subtly honeyed aromatic top notes, so I suspect my score will prove conservative.

• Burghound: Moderate wood sets off a notably ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic nose that includes notes of peach and pear liqueur along with an abundance of floral and spice wisps. This is also imposingly scaled with its full-bodied and overtly powerful mouth coating flavors that deliver almost painful intensity and power on the dramatically long finish. Once again this is a big but impeccably well-balanced effort that should amply repay extended keeping. A 'wow' wine. *Don't Miss*

Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a wine producer in Burgundy making some of the most lauded (and highly priced) white wines from Chardonnay in the region. It is located in Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion, but has vineyards in three other villages: Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthélie.Comtes Lafon's house and cellar were built in 1869 by the Boch family, but its reputation as a winery was most heavily influenced by Jules Lafon, who married Marie Boch in 1894. Lafon bought many of the significant premier cru plots in Meursault and Volnay, and in 1919, parcels in the grand cru Le Montrachet vineyard.Domaine des Comtes Lafon saw an extended period of sharecropping after Jules Lafon's death and the future of the estate became uncertain. It was Jules' grandson René Lafon who took an interest in the winery and fought to stop the division of the vineyards – a move that secured the future of the domaine.
