2018 | Villa Maria | Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Pinot Noir

This wine is a single vineyard expression of the Taylors Pass site, showcasing an intense bouquet of brooding dark cherry and violets meddling with subtle fresh herb notes. A harmony of tannins, with a soft acidity and graphite minerality provide great focus, tension and length to the palate. On the finish there are layers of dark chocolate, dried herbs and spicy oak.

• Wine Enthusiast: This concentrated Pinot is on the richer, fuller end of the spectrum. It's reductive at first, with a dollop of funk that only partially fades with exposure to air, making room for the plush fruit, licorice, violet and oak spice. In the mouth, a heaviness to the fruit, oak and tannins leaves one wishing for some vibrancy and freshness, especially for this variety. With more time in bottle, the wine may reveal more of its charms.
