        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The 2019 Lagrange (Pomerol) offers up aromas of red berries, spices, loamy soil and cedary new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and youthfully chewy palate with a ripe core of fruit and rather rustic structuring tannins.
        • Wine Spectator: Pretty and floral with ash and dried earth. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a fresh, fine-textured finish.

        Producer Information

Château Lagrange – Pomerol (often also referred to as Lagrange à Pomerol) is a well-regarded wine estate in the Pomerol appellation of northeastern Bordeaux, on the so-called "right bank" of the Dordogne river. It is known for its rich, powerful red wine made mainly from the Merlot grape variety. Since 1953, Lagrange has been owned by the Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix firm. The estate consists of nine hectares (22 acres) of vineyards dispersed across several parcels on the Pomerol plateau. These are mostly found near the church of Saint-Jean, and near Château Le Gay where the soils are rich in gravel over a deep clay subsoil. Most of the estate vineyards are planted to Merlot, although Cabernet Franc makes up around five percent of estate's vines. Lagrange à Pomerol does not have its own winery, and the wines are made at Château Trotanoy – another high-profile estate in the Moueix portfolio. The grapes are sorted using hi-tech laser sorting tables, and the grapes are fermented mostly in concrete vats with some stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tank before the must is sent to the basket presses. The wine is aged in small oak barrels for 18-24 months with around 40 percent new oak barrels.
