Producer Information
Domaine Confuron-Gindreis based in Vosne Romanée extends over six generations. The Confuron name is widely known in Burgundy with multiple family members producing wine. The common ancestor is Edouard Jayer and over the generations, the parcels were split among the family members. Today Edouard Confuron is leading the winegrowing and production focusing on creating individual wines to express the terroir of each parcel. The domaine holds 27 hectares spread over the three villages of Vosne-Romanée, NuitsSaint Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. Domaine Francois Confuron-Gindre focusses on a proactive approach in the vineyard to prevent the risk of disease by implementing natural methods such as plowing and trimming. Uses sustainable practices and follows the lunar cycle as much as possible. Old vines are prized and millerandage is common and adds concentration to the wines. Whole cluster is used depending on the vintage. The wines are typically aged about 18 months in oak barrels ranging from 25% to 50% new oak, depending on the level and vintage variation. The cellars are very cool with little temperature fluctuation. As a result, malolactic conversation starts later, usually in November. As it gets colder, the ML stops and starts again in the spring. The wines are not fined or filtered.
