Producer Information
Azienda Agricola Luciano Arduini (also known as Cantina Arduini) is a family-owned wine producer located in Corrubbio, in the Valpolicella wine region of northeastern Italy's Veneto. The estate produces a range of the area's traditional wines, including Valpolicella Classico, Amarone della Valpolicella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Grappa di Amarone, as well as Veronese IGT wines from native Italian grape varieties. The Arduini family vineyards were founded in the 1940s by Gabriele Arduini in Marano di Valpolicella, some ten kilometers (six miles) north of Corrubbio. With the help of his sons, two more vineyards were added to the family's holdings in 1969. The estate today is managed by Gabriele's grandson, Luciano Arduini, and consists of seven hectares (17 acres) of vines, primarily planted on terraced hillsides. The site is exclusively given over to native Italian varieties including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta, Garganega and Trebbiano. Luciano Arduini's flagship wine is its Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. Made as a classic Valpolicella blend, it is harvested by hand and the bunches are air-dried (partially desiccating the berries and concentrating sugars) for four months on wooden racks before vinification. Once withered, the grapes are destemmed, crushed, and macerate for 35 days with regular manual punchdowns and pumpovers. The wine is matured for one year in French oak barriques and a further 10 to 12 months in bottle. The leftover pomace from wine production is used for the estate's Grappa di Amarone.
