2020 | Zonte's Footstep | Globe Skimmer Rose

More nature-inspired deliciousness from Zonte's Footsteps in South Australia. This takes it name from the dragonfly or 'globe skimmer' as its apparently also known as in Australia. It's made from a Spanish variety, Tempranillo, grown in the Finniss River sub-region of the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is a rosé with a bit of heft to it so would suit seared tuna, chicken or rich tomato-based dishes like ratatouille. lobe Skimmer Rosé showcases aromas of Black Currant and Red Grapefruit characteristics, that will leave you wanting more. Bold red cherries, blackcurrants and pink grapefruit.

Reviews:

• Michael Godel: A relatively cool place to make wines and so in Rosé there is a freshness and marine airiness that pervades. The vintage is at the height of that coolness, here clocking in at a mere 13 per cent alcohol and in delivery of as much salty spirit as could be wished or wanted.

• David Lawrason: This is a bright, nicely rounded, well balanced rose that leans to some residual sugar, but finishes fairly dry in the end. The colour is bright, pale salmon pink.

Zonte’s Footstep is a proudly independent Australian wine producer established in 2003. We take our vineyards and our wine, but not ourselves, too seriously. Our grapes are sourced from our own, as well as our mates’ vineyards, from regions that produce the desired expressive, varietal characteristics of the grapes grounded by the soil they are planted in. Located in the McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and further afield. Hence the simple, but diligent pursuit of producing wines that reflect a sense of place, style and purpose. We have always aimed to bottle wines with personality and expression… that’s why we gave them names and a face of their own!
