Batch six of Balvenie's Tun 1509 series is a marriage of 21 casks, including refill sherry butts, ex-bourbon barrels and barrels previously used to finish Balvenie Double Wood, chosen by Malt Master David Stewart MBE. Each of these casks has been married in the Tun, which sits in warehouse 24, for three months before being bottled at the distillery.

This Speyside single malt is crafted with 21 casks hand-selected by The Balvenie Malt Master, David C. Stewart. This sixth batch combined liquid from 1509. He used liquid from refill sherry butts, ex-bourbon American oak barrels and DoubleWood refill sherry butts, which were originally used to finish DoubleWood before being filled with new make and aged. Each of the casks were disgorged into the eponymous Tun 1509, a large oak vessel, were they were combined and married together for three months to create this limited edition release.

Nose: Soft brown sugar and toffee with blossom honey and ginger.
Palate: Maple syrup, candied orange, and runny honey.
Finish: Sweet and malty with spicy vanilla oak notes.
