It has an unbelievable balance of sweet and spicy, just waht we should expect, but rarely see, in a dark rum. The idea of aging in whiskey (barrels) is a breakthrough and creates a phenomenal taste experience. Once again, Cedar Ridge has developed a winning spirit and an excellent cocktail ingredient!"

Cedar Ridge Dark Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Nosing the rum delivers notes of caramelized apple, butterscotch, and charred oak.

Palate: On the palate the caramelized apple note from the aroma takes the lead, followed by dark creamy vanilla, and honey. The charred oak tannins take over with a hint of dried orange peel and old leather.

Finish: A tannin rich finish.

Cedar Ridge was the first licensed distillery in Iowa since Prohibition. After releasing its first batch of whiskey in 2010, Cedar Ridge Distillery quickly became a nationally recognized leader in craft spirits, winning multiple awards such as American Distilling Institute’s “2017 Distiller of the Year” or “Best American Craft Whiskey” at the 2016 New York World Spirits Competition.
