Cruzan Aged 151 Rum

Smoother than any other rum of its proof, Cruzan® 151 is aged for a minimum of one year in American oak barrels and is crafted using a meticulous process. Offering a strong, rich and pronounced flavor, this rum is best served with your favorite mixer. Try it mixed with tropical fruit juices like a Cruzan Voodoo Hurricane cocktail by combining one part each Cruzan® 151, Aged Dark and Vanilla Rum along with three parts each orange juice and pineapple juice and a half-part of grenadine. Mix well, pour over crushed ice in a tall glass and garnish with a fruit wedge.

Cruzan Aged 151 Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Nosing from a careful distance, there is still considerable astringency, but there is also an oak note along with caramel, vanilla, toffee, and the impression of a fruit basket.

Palate: The rum enters with ample heat and spice, but is quickly followed by toast slathered with butter and jam. There is also a tannic presence that quickly coats the mid-palate, which is coupled with a saccharin bitterness.

Finish: A bit of red pepper and pencil shavings the latter of which dominates on the finish. Combined with some water, the fruitiness comes to the fore, showing orange, lemon and grapefruit.

Distillery Information

The Cruzan Rum Distillery (formerly known as Estate Diamond) has been in operation for more than 250 years. The distillery is the largest supplier of American private and distributor label rum. Cruzan Rum also makes a pure cane distillate alcohol (in 189-proof), which can be found for sale in the medicine sections of many grocery stores in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Cruzan is one of two rum distilleries which, due to their place in American history, are part of the American Whiskey Trail.
