Invergordon 1972 MBl is a 45 year old Single Grain whisky from Scotland. Bottled in 01.2018 at 49.4% this bottle will make a fine addition to any Scotland Single Grain whisky lover. Please note that this Meadowside Blending (MBl) is Bourbon Cask. It is also worth mentioning that this is uncolored, non-chillfiltered, cask strength, single cask whisky edition of Invergordon. This is one of only 267 bottles ever produced. A fact, that makes this edition even more desirable.

Invergordon 1972 MBl 45 Year Old The Grainman Bottling Tasting Notes

Nose: A full honey pot embedded in rope and hemp! In addition, vanilla, cereals, some fruit gums, caramel, butter and grains of sea salt. Completed with fresh orange extract, mild lemon and hints of leather and candle wax - a harmonious structure of the nose.

Palate: Soft, spicy and harmonious all round. Salt, pepper, paprika, Chinese grass, leather, ship rope and generally kept quite mild with creamy cocoa, butter, cereals, nut nougat and a little mocha

Finish: Long - spicy and fantastically dark and creamy. Salty chocolate, mocha, espresso, vanilla and cream. In addition, notes of leather and wood and - simply delicious!

Distillery Information

Located in the Highland town of Invergordon, established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd. and operating since 1961 is the Invergordon grain distillery. It is one of only six dedicated grain distilleries in Scotland, and is famous for their Coffey stills, from which they produce some of the finest grain whisky in the world. The Navy withdrew from the town in 1956, leaving a peak of unemployment after which Invergordon was ready to welcome some industrial infrastructure. Oddly, it is based in a region associated with malt distilling, though the combination of easily accessible cereal crops and its port set it as an ideal site for a grain distillery. After a series of owners, Invergordon was absorbed into Whyte & Mackay in 1993, and the majority of liquid distilled goes into Whyte & Mackay blends.
