The Macallan 18 Years Old Sherry Oak 1995 vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky is part of the series, which helped Macallan to their almost legendary reputation: the pure Sherry-cask bottlings. It was not until the middle of the 1960s that Macallan concentrated on single-malts matured in the sherry barrel and, with the exceptional barrel policy, gained great recognition among whisky connoisseurs worldwide. At that time they experimented with different sherry casks and decided to use European Oloroso casks, which previously stored the world-famous Spanish liqueur wine. Despite the crisis in the 1980s among the sherry producers, the Speyside distillery Macallan succeeded in securing the supply of selected sherry barrels and filling the coveted Sherry-Cask whiskys further.

Macallan 1995 18 Year Old Sherry Oak Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Classic spiced dried fruits and creamy vanilla with orange peel, crystallised ginger and apple wood.

Palate: Rum and raisin, dates, caramel and cloves alongside custard and citrus hints. Rich and satisfying.

Finish: Spices and dried fruits from the palate remain alongside warming ginger and refined oakiness.

Distillery Information

The Macallan distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Craigellachie, Moray. The Macallan Distillers Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Edrington Group which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999.
