Single Cask Nation 18 Year Old Spanish Ex-Bourbon Rum

Part of their recent Release #2, the Single Cask Nation 18 Year Old Spanish Rum is a unique single cask bottling from an undisclosed Spanish distillery. Distilled in May 1999, the rum was aged for 18 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. Tapped from Cask #99RB and bottled at cask strength, this release of 135 bottles is a unique as it gets.

Single Cask Nation 18 Year Old Spanish Ex-Bourbon Tasting Notes

Nose: Each glass of this deep amber liquid delight starts with a nose of fresh fennel, black licorice, new bicycle tires, pineapple rum cake, dry ramen noodles, birch wood, nutmeg, fig jam, and hints of pepper.

Palate: A big and bold palate of black licorice, molasses, gingerbread, freshly roasted espresso beans, and baker’s chocolate.

Finish: A pleasing finish of chamomile, milky caramel, and warm honey.

Distillery Information

Tobermory distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery situated on the Hebridean island of Mull, Scotland in the town of Tobermory. The distillery, which was formerly known as Ledaig, was founded in 1798 and has changed hands several times, having undergone a number of periods of closure. The only distillery on Mull, it is currently owned by Burn Stewart Distillers, a subsidiary of Distell Group Limited of South Africa. Its main product, Tobermory single malt, is used in the blends Scottish Leader and Black Bottle. The distillery also produces a smaller amount of peated whisky, which remains known under the former name, Ledaig.
