• Wine Advocate: Set for release late this year, the 2006 Riesling trocken G-Max represents Keller’s top selection. from a parcel (varying from year to year) whose identity he chooses not to divulge. A striking melange of buddleia, rowan, sea spray, and citrus oil rises from the glass, and in the mouth this exhibits a combination of intensity with elegance, clarity, lift, and refinement that goes well beyond his other wines. A crystalline concentration of berries, citrus, pear, and purple plum, crusted in salt and chalk, barely tinged with fruit pit piquancy, and haloed by floral perfume leads to an impressively concentrated yet positively wafting finish. Klaus-Peter Keller says his grapes weren’t soft yet when the August rain hit, and he harvested late by local standards – from 6th-26th of October – by which time the nights were cool, which in his opinion preserved the aromas, warded-off botrytis, and allowed him to achieve normal crop levels, expressive ripeness and dry wines in the 11.9-13% alcohol range.

Weingut Keller is an esteemed German wine producer located in the Rheinhessen in the municipality of Flörsheim-Dalsheim. The estate's origins date back to 1789 when Johann Leonhard Keller acquired property at the esteemed Hubacker vineyard – a classified Erste Lage by the VDP. The family-owned and operated business has been managed by Klaus Peter Keller since 2001. The estate is best known for its range of critically acclaimed Riesling wines, and in particular its dry (trocken) bottlings, led by G-Max Riesling. This is produced from low-yielding, old vines and has received top scores from a number of critics. It is one of the most expensive dry Riesling wines in the world. Weingut Keller is also increasingly recognized for its Spätburgunder. Riesling and Spätburgunder are sourced from from some of the top vineyards in the Rheinhessen including Grosses Gewächs from Hubacker and Bürgel in Dalsheim and the Kirchspiel, Morstein and Abtserde vineyards (the latter is sold as "Abst E®.de") in Westhofen. The estate is most famously linked to the Hubacker vineyard – four hectares (10 acres) of the property have remained in the Keller family for ten generations. The site faces south and south-east on a slope composed of limestone and marl soils. The oldest plantings of Riesling at this parcel date to 1974.
