      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Renaissance Blanc (30% each of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc, with 20% each of Clairette and Bourboulenc) offers terrific purity and a fresh, lively, medium-bodied style that’s hard to resist. It has impressive complexity as well, with lots of citrus blossom, thyme and floral aromas and flavors. This is terrific white that should drink nicely for 2-4 years, with the caveat that these can be aged longer. as well.
      • Wine Spectator: Plump in feel, with enticing star fruit, white peach, shortbread and verbena notes melding together. A light salted butter edge on the finish adds length and cut. This opens wonderfully in the glass.

Roger Sabon is a family-owned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a range based around four different red Châteauneuf cuvées. The estate has 16 hectares (39.5 acres) under vine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape of which 15 are planted to red varieties, including Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Winemaking is traditional with aging in a mix of barrels and vats of various sizes and ages. While the Prestige cuvée may be the flagship in terms of availability and quality-price ratio, Le Secret des Sabon is widely regarded as one of the best reds in the region – made largely from century-old Grenache vines, its price reflects its reputation. There is also a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a red Lirac and Côtes du Rhône. On top of this, Roger Sabon also owns 17ha (42 acres) of land in the southern Rhône, making wines under the Côtes du Rhône and Lirac appellations. Three Vins de France round out the portfolio. The Sabon family can trace their roots in the Southern Rhône valley all the way back to 1540, though the first vintage bottled by the estate in something like its modern form was 1921.
