      Detailed Description

A dark garnet colour. The nose unveils woody, fruity and spicy scents. Then comes a round, full attack on the palate with velvety, silky tannins and beautiful balance. This wine is characterised by finesse, charm and elegance.
1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic négociant, buying and selling wine. But from generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundy’s patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is today among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: Tasted from bottle, the 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges is one of Faiveley's most brooding and reserved wines this year, unfurling in the glass with notes of earthy black cherries, cassis, dark chocolate, grilled game bird and rich spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a tight-knit core, an abundance of fine but firm structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. If opened today, this Nuits is better on day two or three, and while it's excellent, it will demand more patience than pretty much any other cuvée in the range.
        • Vinous: Bright ruby-red. A touch of reduction to the aromas of black raspberry and menthol. A step up in richness and fullness from the foregoing Nuits-Saint-Georges examples, conveying sexy sweetness to its flavors of dark cherry and dark chocolate complicated by a hint of white fruits. In a sweeter, generous style in the context of the vintage, with the wine's big dusty tannins nicely supported by its relatively full body. -Stephen Tanzer

n 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic négociant, buying and selling wine. From generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundy’s patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Their holdings total 331 acres, of which, 30 acres are grands crus and 67 acres are premiers crus.
The objective of the family today, led by Erwan Faiveley, is to increase the firm’s holdings of great vineyards so that there can be complete control from vine to bottle across the entire range of wines. Along with this focus, Erwan Faiveley has renovated the Domaines cellars—in both Nuits-Saints-George and Mercurey—which now boast state of the art barrel presses, custom-designed wooden vats, and among the finest air-cured oak casks available in the world.
