Reviews:
- Decanter: A hard-to-beat Corton-Charlemagne in 2017, this comes from cool, east-facing vineyards that ripen very slowly, even in a warm year. Focussed, pithy and fizzing with energy, it's a rich, dense wine with 40% new oak, creamy lees and a tangy, mouthwatering finish
- Allen Meadows: The dense, intense and very serious broad-shouldered flavors are akin to rolling small rocks around the mouth before culminating in a driving and gorgeously complex finish that goes on and on.
Producer Information
In 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic nĂŠgociant, buying and selling wine. From generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundyâs patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the CĂ´te de Nuits, CĂ´te de Beaune and CĂ´te Chalonnaise. Their holdings total 331 acres, of which, 30 acres are grands crus and 67 acres are premiers crus. The objective of the family today, led by Erwan Faiveley, is to increase the firmâs holdings of great vineyards so that there can be complete control from vine to bottle across the entire range of wines. Along with this focus, Erwan Faiveley has renovated the Domaines cellarsâin both Nuits-Saints-George and Mercureyâwhich now boast state of the art barrel presses, custom-designed wooden vats, and among the finest air-cured oak casks available in the world.
