      Reviews:

      • Jeb Dunnuck: Based on 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Château Haut Selve is a charming, up-front, incredibly delicious Graves offering loads of ripe red and black cherry fruits, notes of sandalwood, white truffle, and incense, medium to full body, no hard edges, and a great finish. Beautifully done, this already complex, up-front beauty can be drunk any time over the coming 10-15 years.
      • James Suckling: Sweet-berry, lemon-peel and dried-flower aromas follow through to a medium body, firm and fine tannins and a precise, clean finish.

      Producer Information

The Château Haut Selve was a daring project that was created from scratch by the Lesgourgues family. Their mission: to create a vineyard on the land of an estate that was infamous for being ravaged by phylloxera, land which had been abandoned for 120 years because it was too difficult to cultivate. Since 1993, they’ve created everything, including planting the vines, constructing the winery, designing the landscaping, and installing the trellises. Sylvain Dubuisson and Vincent Barre, famous architects and designers, were hired to supervise the construction of the winery and to design the estate’s landscape, grids, doors, and cellars. That vision required the help of truly talented partners, comprising an enthusiastic and audacious team able to challenge themselves and who are devoted to their quest for excellence. The Château Haut Selve motto, “Non Nova Sed Nove,” or, “With the Present, Make and Build for the Future,” illustrates this passion for innovation. The Lesgourgues family business was created in 1974. Today, succeeding Maurice and Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues, is the third generation of vintners. Presently, the family owns five properties—-in Bas Armagnac (Château de Laubade), Graves, Madiran, and Côtes de Blaye—where they oversee wine production and commercial policies. The values that guide the company are tradition, innovation, and beauty. Château Haut Selve now shines among the leading châteaux of Graves. Its white and red wines can be found in the best wine shops and in the wine lists of the finest restaurants in France. They are also exported in close to 25 countries worldwide.
