• Wine Spectator: Very aromatic, coffee-stained berries on the nose. Full-bodied with an intense but well-balanced palate with firm, loose-grained tannins, leaving plenty of room for the bright fruit to expand. Long finish. So much positive energy here. Nice to taste now, but will improve with bottle age.

• Vinous: An alluring mix of exotically spiced cherries, hints of tangerine and sweet herbs wafts up from the sexy Zyme 2018 Kairos. This is a juicy and extroverted effort, with depths of mineral-tinged red fruits and waxy rose tones within that coat the palate with liquid florals. The acids are bright and enliven the expression. This is so appealing with cinnamon, clove and pomegranate that lingers on and on, while still remaining remarkably fresh.

Zýme is an award-winning Italian estate in the Veneto. The portfolio includes leading Valpolicella Classico and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, but which is perhaps best known for its flagship IGT Verona wines, Harlequin and Kairos, which are made from at least 15 different grape varieties. Zýme also produce a rare varietal Oseleta.Grapes are sourced from multiple small parcels of vines throughout the Veneto, with concentrations in Valpolicella, Verona and Vicenza. Vineyards total around 30 hectares (74 acres), some of which are farmed under contractThe modern winery has been built on the site of a medieval quarry in the heart of Valpolicella Classico, and benefits from extensive cellars adapted from former quarry caves dug into the hillside. Annual production totals around 80,000 bottles.
