Producer Information

Eroica is a Riesling label collaboration between Ernst Loosen of Weingut Dr Loosen in Germany's Mosel valley, and Chateau Ste. Michelle in Washingon (initially via the latter's former winemaker, Bob Bertheau). Loosen and Bertheau teamed up in 1999 to showcase New World expressions of Riesling made with Old World winemaking philosophies. Chateau Ste. Michelle, located in the Columbia Valley, has a 45-plus year history with Riesling and was one of the first wineries in Washington to plant the variety. Meanwhile, Loosen comes from a family with a 200-year history of Riesling production in the Mosel. Looking to promote the quality of Riesling in the New World, Loosen teamed up with Chateau Ste. Michelle and Eroica was born. The Eroica range includes four Rieslings of varying sweetness: Eroica, Eroica Gold, Eroica Single Berry Select, and Eroica Ice Wine. The grapes for Eroica come from cool climate vineyards in the Yakima Valley and Horse Heaven Hills and are vinified and blended to create wines with pronounced acidity and heightened minerality.
