Pale green-yellow color. Intense vegetal and citrus aromas on the nose. An unctuous, yet powerful, palate. The intense gooseberry flavors are complimented by a long lasting finale.

• Wine Enthusiast: This Sancerre leans into being fulsome. Slightly gold in color, the wine has an aromatic nose of golden apple, orange marmalade, Bosc pear and dried white blossom petal. The wine is slightly creamy in texture with a combination of ripe and tart fruit on the palate.

• James Suckling: Fruity and straightforward with green apples, sliced pears and warm herbs on the nose. Medium body with fresh acidity. Fruity and refreshing with a clean finish.

J de Villebois and its sister label Villebois are two brands owned and run by Dutch businessman Joost van der Does de Willebois and his wife Miguela. The pan-Loire company specialises in Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Touraine in the Loire Valley. In 2015, Villebois/de Villebois acquired Sancerre-based Fournier Pere & Fils and as such, the company operates two wineries: Fourier in Sancerre and the original site in the wider Touraine, east of Tours. Vineyard holdings cover 275 hectares (680 acres). The company’s two Villebois labels broadly cover different levels of wines with "Villebois" bearing the wider appellations such as Menetou-Salon, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, IGP Val de Loire and even produces varietal Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir under the Vin de France title, as well as a sparkling Brut Crémant de Loire. The "de Villebois" range is more vineyard-specific with single-vineyard offerings from the Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé holdings. It also contains Touraine and Vin de France wines.
