Jefferson's Grand Selection Chateau Pichon Baron Cask Finish

One of Jefferson's favorite French wines was the Chateau Pichon Baron, an exceptional red wine. Pichon Baron wine and the toasted staves of the French oak wine casks complement Jefferson Reserve's well-aged, complex Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. After hand selecting a limited number of Pichon Baron barrels, refilling them with Jefferson’s Reserve bourbon and extra aging them in the proprietary “hot box” environment, a one-of-a-kind whiskey that combined the robust flavors of the Bordeaux was created.

Nose: Notes of robust flavor of Bordeaux, toasted American and French oak.

Palate: Hints of chocolate and fresh brewed coffee.

Finish: Fruity and spicy with a very pronounced wine-forward flavor that lingers.

Distillery Information

After Thomas Jefferson retired from public office in 1815, he often tended to the garden that he had cultivated on his Monticello estate. At the time, it was customary for wealthy farmers, including Jefferson, to distill the excess grains they harvested from their farms into spirits (George Washington was one of the country’s largest distillers of rye whiskey). As a result, each farmer’s spirits were unique and reflected the local terroir of their farm. The Jefferson’s brand pays homage to Jefferson and the fine whiskey he distilled. The Kentucky Artisan Distillery is the official home of Jefferson’s Bourbon. Distilling, blending, bottling of Jefferson’s special bourbon whiskey releases is done there. This is the home base from which Trey Zoeller is continually testing the boundaries of bourbon whiskey.
