Pintail Blended Malt 2012 - Oloroso Sherry Cask | 700ML

A brilliant blended malt from the independent Pintail collection, comprised of a selection of 2012 vintage whiskies selected for their bold, rich balance. The blend was matured for a decade in a first-fill oloroso sherry butt, bringing generous layers of chocolate, orchard fruits, coffee, and raisins.

Nose: Spiced plum jam, a dusting of cocoa, sweet malt, and hints of treacle.

Palate: Chocolate-coated coffee beans, plump sultanas, cooked apples, a touch of floral barley.

Finish: Rich baking spice joins at the end, backed up by more roasty coffee, stewed fruit and dense oak.

Distillery Information

Pintali was first bottled in 1931 as Matthew Gloag & Son’s house brand of Dry Sherry and soon won international awards for its superior quality. Featured in Tatler magazine in 1935 –“You cannot be wrong in offering a glass of ‘Pintail’ to your guest for the little “11 o’clock” and before or after meals”. It was regularly advertised in Matthew Gloag & Son’s Christmas brochure alongside the increasingly popular ‘Famous Grouse’ brand of Scotch Whisky as part of their ‘Case de Luxe’ offering. Unfortunately, the downturn in Sherry consumption in the latter half of the 20th century signalled the end for the brand … until The Whisky Cellar acquired the rights in 2021, lining it up once again with its old ‘Brig O’ Perth’ stablemate.
