• Wine Enthusiast: Fresh apple-flesh, honeysuckle and light lemon-butter aromas show on the nose of this blend of 60% Viognier, 30% Grenache Blanc and 10% Chardonnay. Lemon peel gives a fresh edge to the dried pear flavor of the palate, which also shows a steely minerality.

• Jeb Dunnuck: The 2016 White Wine from Tenshen is made from a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay sourced from sites throughout the Central Coast. Brought up mostly in neutral barrels, with a small part in stainless, it offers rich, full-bodied aromas and flavors of buttered peach, tangerine, honeysuckle and flowers. Richly textured, balanced and with a clean, dry finish, it’s a terrific white Rhône blend readers should check out.

“tenshen” is a play on words that nods to the winemaking acumen and the tension that occurs when harvesting. tensh?n’s thought provoking Rhône blends are tenacious and alluring. An abstract energy that a wine possesses, inspired by picking at a just-ripe-enough precipice and then getting out of the way. Winemaker and Owner are Julian Gonzales and Alex Guarachi.
