Castello di Amorosa is a Napa Valley winery that was built as a reproduction of a 13th century Tuscan castle. It makes a range of wines but it is best known for its wines made from Italian grape varieties like Sangiovese, Primitivo, and Pinot Grigio, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The castle building and surrounding vineyards were ravaged by the Glass wildfire on September 28, 2020.The winery initially took more than a decade to complete, and was made with a focus on historically accurate methods and architecture. After finding a suitable site, owner/operator Dario Sattui (who also owns the St. Helena winery V. Sattui) began building in 1994 and the castle was finally unveiled in 2007.It has since become a major tourist attraction, and is one of the most visited wineries in Napa. This allows Amorosa to keeps its wine sales almost exclusively to its cellar door and website.
