A striking deep ruby in color, the intensely aromatic energy of the 2018 UV Pinot Noir soars from the glass with spectacular scents of warm raspberry compote, bergamot oil, sappy berries, and underbrush. This wine reveals unmatched breadth and concentration with plenty of plush black fruits and hints of clay earth, sandalwood incense, and sweet spices. Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The 2018 Aubert Pinot Noirs were bottled at the beginning of July 2019. Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2018 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard rolls out of the glass with intense notes of Morello cherries, rhubarb, raspberry pie, bouquet garni and lilacs with suggestions of Marmite toast, fungi, fragrant soil and forest floor. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with crunchy red berries plus loads of earthy accents, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long with a wonderfully spicy kick. Delicious now, this should age incredibly well, generously rewarding those with enough patience to defer their gratification.
        • Wine Spectator: Mark Aubert is a skilled master of Pinot Noir from Sonoma County. His winemaking is a mix of French and Californian styles, including whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and long macerations on the skins. Aubert’s goal with Pinot is to make wines with mouthfilling flavors and a low amount of tannins. The grapes for this wine came from the clay- and sand-rich soils of UV Vineyard, located in western Sonoma County near the town of Sebastopol. The site is named after the late Ulises Valdez, the talented Mexican-American grapegrower who planted it in 2001.

        Producer Information

Aubert is a small Chardonnay and Pinot Noir estate that makes wine from single-vineyard sites in Napa Valley and Sonoma. It was founded by Mark and Teresa Aubert in 1999, and today, is considered to be one of California's cult producers.
The first vintage of Aubert was in 2000 – a Chardonnay sourced from the Ritchie Vineyard in Russian River Valley. It quickly received acclaim for its full-blown, hedonistic style and was pivotal for company's success. Although the vineyard is no longer within the company's holdings, the Burgundian syle in which the Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay was produced, remains as the production style throughout the wine portfolio. The chardonnay wines are barrel-fermented and aged in French oak, a majority of which is new.
Aubert's portfolio has since expanded to an array of single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, sourced from multiple vineyard sites in Russian River and Rutherford as well as Napa and Sonoma. Each wine in Aubert's portfolio is named after the parcel of vineyard from which it is sourced and production is extremely limited. The Lauren vineyard is eight acres (3.2 hectares) of Chardonnnay, named after the founder's daughter and was the first estate vineyard of Aubert. Today, the compnay counts over ten different vineyards within its holdings.
