      Reviews:

      • Decanter: Sweet black cherry and blackberry fruits, with good balance and freshness on the finish. Mouthwatering, with touches of grilled rosemary, pepper and woodsmoke. A consistent success rate at this property that is owned by Millésima négociants. Vineyards of gravel and sand soils over a clay subsoil. aged in 25% new oak.
      • James Suckling: Blackcurrant, tea-leaf, mocha and some praline aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. Flavorful and structured.

      Producer Information

Château Peyrabon is a Cru Bourgeois wine producer on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Unusually, it has vineyards both in the Haut-Médoc and Pauillac. A trio of red wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon supported by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. There are 37 hectares (91 acres) of vineyards in the Haut-Médoc zone. The chateau is located here, near Labrousse just north of the road from Artigues. Two Haut-Médoc red wines are made; Château Peyrabon, and the estate's second wine, Château Pierbone. Château Peyrabon's Haut-Médoc vineyard is composed of gravel, clay, sand, and limestone soils with vines averaging 25 years old. The château's Cabernet Sauvignon dominant wine is aged in 33 percent new French oak for around 14 months before bottling. Around 35,000 cases of Château Peyrabon are produced annually. Château La Fleur Peyrabon is made from seven hectares (17 acres) of vines planted a couple of kilometers away in Pauillac. Around 3000 cases are produced per annum. The estate has a history dating back to the 18th Century with a château built in 1766. It was been owned between 1998 and 2022 by Bordeaux merchant Patrick Bernard, who sold it to BCAP, a group controlled by the Castéja family, owners of Chateau Batailley and Chateau Lynch Moussas.
